Woman told to 'buy lottery ticket' after she makes discovery under old carpet

A pregnant woman renovating her first home with her husband has 'hit the jackpot' after deciding to rip up the old, unwanted carpet in her new home and making a lucky discovery

Home improvements can be a drawn-out, nerve-wracking endeavor that might bring unexpected expenses, structural issues, surprise repair jobs and more. But it's not all negative – the payoff can mean transforming a property into your ideal home.

For example, one woman was told to "buy a lottery ticket" after making an impressive discovery while renovating her property. She "hit the jackpot" after deciding to tear up dated blue carpeting in a large room in her new house.

Wedding signage and stationery designer Sarah Henry and her husband Kyle Ryan have been chronicling their home transformation, all while expecting their first baby.

The pair have posted frequent updates on social platforms, with one recent TikTok clip garnering more than 1.3 million views. In the footage, a generous-sized room in their new property is showcased, its floors blanketed in dense, blue carpeting.

Overlaying the clip, Sarah included text stating: "When you're pregnant but really need to see if there's hardwood under the carpet".

Sarah can then be seen beginning to tear up the carpeting in one corner of the space. After getting a glimpse beneath, she can be heard saying: "Yep. We got hardwood."

As she proceeds to strip away the carpet, the cameraman playfully reminds her: "You're with child."

The footage wraps up with the blue carpeting entirely stripped away, revealing highly desirable hardwood floors. Sarah, Ryan and their relatives then sweep and vacuum the surface, clearing away the remnants left from the old carpeting.

In the caption beneath the footage, Sarah wrote: "When you're stubborn and need to rip the carpet up for yourself [crying laughing emoji]. The hardwood angels have blessed us!!!!!! It's literally perfect" the-mirror-icon_news_weird-news_tiktok.

TikTok users flocked to share their reactions, with the clip racking up hundreds of responses.

And another shared: "My husband keeps saying we are gonna pull up our carpet because he thinks there is hard wood underneath. This gives me hope it may not turn into the s**t show I think it will lol".
